Truist transfer limits vary based on which option you use to send money. While ACH and Zelle transfers are more convenient and tend to be faster, wire transfers have higher caps and allow you to transmit funds domestically or abroad.
We’ll discuss all you need to know to check your individual caps in this helpful guide. Let’s dive in.
We'll also introduce Wise — your international money transfer alternative. Use Wise to send stress-free transfers to over 140 countries - all at the standard mid-market exchange rate.

Truist provides few details about its transfer limits.¹ However, you can be sure that your limits will vary based on factors like:
- the age and history of your account
- the account type
- your current and revolving balance history
To check your transfer limit, you’ll need to initiate a transfer request. When setting up the transfer, you’ll see your current caps.
Truist will periodically adjust your limits as your account history changes. However, there aren’t any standardized tiers for raising your limit. If you want to better understand how to qualify for higher limits, contact customer service.
Truist doesn’t provide clear transfer caps for account holders. If you reach the transfer limit, you won’t be able to make any more transactions until your limit resets. For specific information regarding transfer frequency and volume, it’s best to contact Truist customer service.
If you need to send money after reaching the cap, you’ll need to explore an alternative or a secondary account.
You could also consider upgrading to a premium or business account. However, some of these accounts come with high minimum balance requirements and monthly fees.
Like many institutions, Truist offers an integration with Zelle® to allow users to send money faster.
Your Truist Zelle® transfer limits are based on your account activity, history, and balance trends.² To check your current limit²:
- Log in to your Truist account
- Select “Transfer & Pay”
- Select “Send Money with Zelle®”
- Name your recipient, and your transfer limit will be visible on the transaction page
Typically, Zelle® has lower limits compared to ACH transfers. However, the money will arrive within minutes in most cases, which is why many users prefer it for fast payments.
If you’re going to use Zelle®, make sure the recipient has signed up as well. If they don’t have a Zelle® account, they’ll receive a text or email prompting them to create one.
When making an international wire transfer, you’ll be subject to the Truist wire transfer limit.
The Truist wire transfer maximum is 500,000 USD per 3-day rolling business period. You can send this amount in a single transaction or multiple wires.
International wires are the only option for sending money abroad with Truist. When transferring money with your bank account or Zelle®, you can only set up payments to other domestic accounts.
Be mindful of exchange rates and add-on fees when arranging wire transfers. These fees range widely and can have a big impact on the total cost of your transaction.
A smart option if you’re sending money overseas: meet Wise.
With Wise, you can send up to 1,000,000 USD per wire transaction to 140+ countries, with the mid-market exchange rate and low, transparent fees. |

To check your transfer limits, log in to your Truist account and select “Transfer & Pay.” You’ll need to choose a transfer method (e.g., Zelle® or ACH) to view your limits. If you’ve already sent money within the current rolling period, you’ll see your remaining cap amount.
There’s no need to check wire transfer limits, as the standard cap for all Truist members is 500,000 USD per 3-day rolling period. Once you reach that cap, you’ll have to wait until the 3-day rolling period has passed.
Truist will increase your Zelle® and ACH transfer limits periodically. The institution will base its decisions on the age of your account, whether it remains in good standing, your revolving balances, and other factors. Contact customer service if you have specific questions about transfer limit increases.
You may also be eligible for an increase if you upgrade your account. Moving from a base account to a premium or business account could lead to higher limits.
There aren’t any US wire transfer caps. However, Truist and many other institutions place limits on how much you can send via a wire. You can’t increase the transfer limits for wires with Truist. If you’ve reached the cap, you must wait for the 3-day rolling period to end before you can send additional payments.
Truist doesn’t charge any fees for Zelle® or ACH transactions. You can use both of these services for free. However, there are fees for wire transfers³:
Transfer type | Fee |
---|---|
Domestic wire transfer | 20 USD |
International wire transfer | 35 USD |
Many institutions also add fees or a percentage rate when sending international transfers. The exchange rate differs between institutions and represents a hidden cost you need to be mindful of when determining how to send money abroad.
These added fees can make your transfer costly, especially when sending large amounts.
With Wise, you can send secure and trackable large amount transfers to 140+ countries worldwide with transparent fees and the fair mid-market exchange rate.
