Fifth Third transfer limits [2025]

Alexis Konovodoff

If you’re looking to send a payment with your Fifth Third account, you need to be mindful of the transfer limits. Fifth Third transfer limits restrict how much you can send in one transaction, day, week, or month. The bank also has variable caps based on what method you use to send money.

In this guide, you’ll learn about the limits for wire transfers, ACH transfers, and other options when sending money with your Fifth Third account.

We'll also introduce Wise — your international money transfer alternative. Use Wise to send stress-free transfers to over 140 countries - all at the standard mid-market exchange rate.

Fifth Third transfer limits overview

Unfortunately, Fifth Third Bank doesn’t publicly display its transfer limits. If you’re a customer, you can log in and check your current limits. You can also contact customer service directly.

Some sources state the limit is up to 2,000 USD per day or 5,000 USD per month.¹

What is the Zelle® transfer limit at Fifth Third?

The Zelle® Fifth Third Bank transfer limit depends on your account.

If you’re already a Fifth Third Bank user, simply sign up for Zelle® through your member portal. You can request a limit increase if you have a lengthy account history and a high enough average revolving balance to warrant the bump.

Fifth Third doesn’t limit how much money you can receive with Zelle®.² However, people paying you will likely face sending limits from their institutions.

Fifth Third international transfer limits

Making an international wire transfer is the only way to send money abroad with Fifth Third. The process is relatively simple, and there aren’t any transfer limits.

Wire transfers are also one of the few services that Fifth Third Bank offers for free for its members. All incoming and outgoing domestic and international wires are complimentary.³

The downside is that you have to visit a branch location to set up a wire transfer. The institution doesn’t offer any self-service options through its client portal.

While the bank doesn’t place any limits on wires, the IRS does have reporting requirements for transactions that exceed 10,000 USD. Fortunately, the bank will handle the reporting process for you. It may take a little extra time at the branch, and there aren’t any practical workarounds for this particular requirement.

🚨Fifth Third bank doesn’t explicitly charge anything to set up your wire, but you’ll still need to pay any exchange rate mark-ups and other add-on charges when sending money internationally. The receiving institution may also charge a fee.

How can you check your Fifth Third transfer limits?

You’ll need to contact Fifth Third customer service directly to confirm your ACH and Zelle® transfer limits. This can be frustrating, especially if you need to send a payment in a hurry.

Take note of your transfer limits and make sure to request an increase when you think you’re eligible.

Since Fifth Third doesn’t impose any wire transfer limits, you can send as much money as necessary using the bank’s wire transfer service.

Can you increase your transfer limits at Fifth Third?

You may be able to request a Fifth Third Bank external transfer limit increase. However, you’ll need a strong account history and an adequate average revolving balance to justify this ask. If you’re a relatively new account holder, the institution will likely deny your request.

Fifth Third Bank responds to these requests on a case-by-case basis. If you’re planning to request an increase, make sure you have a strong account history and relatively consistent balances over the past 9–12 months.

What are Fifth Third’s transfer fees and charges?

Fifth Third Bank doesn’t charge any fees for using Zelle® or setting up ACH transfers. The institution also offers complimentary wire transfers for all members.

While these no-fee services can help keep your costs down, be aware that other fees, such as those for exchange rates and intermediary banks, can still apply when sending international transfers.
