If you plan to use your Revolut card on a trip abroad, it’s important to know how it works at foreign ATMs. Revolut cards are accepted in most countries, but fees and withdrawal limits may apply depending on your plan.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about Revolut ATM withdrawal abroad. We’ll cover withdrawal limits, using your virtual Revolut card at an ATM and any overseas charges you might face.
The Wise debit card is another handy alternative worth considering. For withdrawals, if you already have the currency in your Wise account, there’s no fee and your money will be converted at the mid-market rate. Otherwise there’s just a small, transparent conversion fee*. There are some monthly limits, but more on this later.
Wise will not charge you for these withdrawals, but some additional charges may occur from independent ATM networks.

Yes, you can use your Revolut card for ATM withdrawals. It’s important that the card you’re using is active and that cash withdrawals are enabled.1
It’s not possible to use a Revolut virtual card at an ATM. You can instead add your physical card to your mobile wallet and use it at a contactless ATM.1
The Revolut ATM withdrawal fee is 2% of the amount withdrawn or £1 if that’s higher. The fee only applies after you’ve used up your free monthly allowance.2
If you’re exchanging money with Revolut before making a withdrawal, you may be charged a currency exchange fee depending on your plan’s limit. For example, users of the Standard plan need to pay 1% on amounts over £1,000 per month, while Plus plan users pay 0.5% on amounts over £3,000. Premium, Metal and Ultra users don’t pay exchange fees.2
Revolut also charges a 1% weekend fee on currency exchanges made between 5pm on Friday and 6pm on Sunday for Standard and Plus customers, it is 0.5%2 . If you’re willing to pay a monthly subscription, Revolut Premium, Metal, and Ultra customers don't pay the additional weekend fee.
The Revolut withdrawal limit is £3,000 per day, but the monthly free withdrawal allowance depends on the plan you’re using.
Standard and Plus plan users can withdraw up to £200 a month or make up to five fee-free withdrawals, whichever comes first. Those who use the Premium plan can withdraw up to £400 per month without fees, while Metal plan users can take out up to £800. Finally, Ultra plan users can withdraw up to £2,000 a month without any fees.
Revolut ATM withdrawal abroad is possible at almost any ATM that supports Visa or Mastercard. Just make sure you use your physical card or the digital version stored in your phone’s wallet.3
When you withdraw money from Revolut overseas, the fees are the same as in the UK. ATM operators might charge their own fees and withdrawals are still subject to Revolut’s plan-based fees and limits.
With a Wise account, you can hold 40+ currencies and switch between them easily in the Wise app. You can also get a linked debit card for withdrawals and global spending in 150+ countries. A physical Wise card is available for a one-off fee of £7 or you can use the virtual card, and even add it to your Google or ApplePay wallet for no cost.
When it comes to ATM withdrawals, Wise lets you take out up to £200 per month for free, across two separate withdrawals. After that, a 1.75% fee applies to any amount over the free limit. Starting with your third withdrawal in the same month, a £0.50 flat fee is also added to each transaction.
You can always check your withdrawal limits in the Wise app or online. Wise uses the mid-market rate for currency conversion, available 24/7. And unlike the Revolut Standard and Plus plans, there are no weekend fees for currency conversion.
Keep in mind that ATM providers may still apply their own fees or limits.
